Black Isle Show Will be The Real Deal
Visitors to the Black Isle Show on the 5th and 6th August will be assured of getting the Real Deal after The Highland Council and the Black Isle Farmers Society made a commitment to keep them free of fake goods.

Organisations throughout the UK have signed up to the Real Deal markets’ charter, a nationwide initiative that encourages local authority Trading Standards and market operators to work closely together and share information so that local markets, car boot sales remain free from counterfeit goods and are a safe environment in which to shop and trade. At the Chartered Institute of Trading Standards conference in Bournemouth last week (Wed 1 July 2015), Leon Livermore, CEO of the CTSI presented the inaugural National Markets Group Awards.
The National Markets Group for IP Protection (NMG), which consists of representatives from industry, enforcement and government, works in partnership to reduce the availability of counterfeit and pirated goods at markets, car boot sales and social media platforms such as Facebook. Continue reading

The iconic, council-run Portobello and Golborne Road Market is now part of the Real Deal scheme following the signing of the Real Deal Charter by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, with Hammersmith and Fulham Trading Standards Service on Saturday 30 May. The Charter signing demonstrates their joint determination to ensure that Portobello and Golborne Market is free of counterfeit goods.

Intellectual Property Training Courses
A series of training courses has been designed by the IPO and Alliance for IP to help people develop an understanding of various aspects of Intellectual Property: copyright, trade mark and design issues, the role of the Intellectual Property Office, and IP crime.
The courses are designed to assist those preparing to take the Diploma in Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards IP examination in November each year but each individual training day can be booked as a standalone course.
There are four separate training days:

- Copyright
- Registered Designs and Design Rights
- Trade Marks and the Criminal Law

March is the Real Deal
Fenland District Council, which operates the local market in March, is the latest to introduce the Real Deal Charter, confirming the council’s commitment to safe, fair, fake-free trading.
The council and market management have worked with trading standards officers at Cambridgeshire County Council who are committed to rolling out the Real Deal charter across all the council’s markets. March is now the fifth market in the county to adopt the Charter.
